Take Note Quartet
The Take Note quartet is comprised of Anne Crosby (baritone),
Jan Coffin (bass), Joanne Ings (lead), and Raye Trainor
(tenor). All are members of the North American women's barbershop
organization, Harmony Incorporated and compete in Harmony’s
regional and international competitions.
In their non-singing lives Anne is the Accounts Manager
for the Hunter River Dental Practice; Jan is a Project Manager
with the National Research Council; Joanne works as an independent
Social Policy Consultant; and Raye is a Dental Hygienist.
Take Note performs a wide selection of music and strives
to keep it as varied as possible including 1950's rock 'n
roll, gospel, Scottish, western, and traditional barbershop
classics. The quartet regularly performs at benefit concerts,
churches, private parties, conventions, special events,
and variety shows. They also do Singing Valentines and other
special event greetings – birthdays, anniversaries,
retirements for example.
The quartet placed 3rd in Harmony's Area 1 competition
in June 2006 and qualified for International Competition
for the sixth consecutive time. On November 25th, 2006,
the quartet was the featured group for the Saint Andrew's
Day Gala in Halifax with the Caledonia Scottish Fiddle Orchestra
and the Thistle Scottish Country Dancers.
