The Karen Gordon Memorial Scholarship
The Karen Gordon Memorial Scholarship is pffered to
an Area 1 Chapter member who plans
on attending Harmony Intensive Training School
(HITS). The amount of the scholarship is
$500.00. HITS takes place Wednesday, August
6 - Sunday, August 10 2008. Location: Humber College North
Campus, Toronto ON.
Below is an outline containing information on the scholarship.
Name of the recipient will be announced during the banquet
at AC&C.

The Karen Gordon Memorial Scholarship Criteria
- Financial assistance while attending the annual Harmony
Intensive Training School.
Applicants must apply to the Scholarship Committee which
is the current Board of
Directors, ScotianAires Chapter of Harmony, Inc. One scholarship
in the amount
$500.00 will be awarded in 2008.
- The Committee will accept one application per Chapter.
- This scholarship is not to be given solely on music
ability, but is available to any
Harmony member (Area 1) who will put the acquired knowledge
to work for the
Improvement of her chapter.
- Applicant(s) will present a letter to the Committee
stating their reasons for wishing
to attend “HITS” and explain how the education
will benefit them.
- A letter from their Chapter Board of Directors will
be necessary to give their support
and reasons why this person should receive the award.
- The information submitted will be examined and a
vote, by ballot, will be taken to
select the successful applicant.
- The scholarship will not be awarded to the same individual
two years in succession.
- Following “HITS”, the recipient will
present a report of their experience and how it
will help personal and chapter development. This report
should be submitted to the
ScotianAires Chapter within eight (8) weeks of the event.
- Applications must be received by May
16 2008
- A recipient who cannot use the scholarship funds
will return them to the
ScotianAires. An attempt will be made to find a replacement
and, if none is
available, funds will revert back to the scholarship fund.
- The scholarship will be presented during Area 1
Contest and Convention.
